Talking to college coaches? Send a tape.

College Highlight Tape is your recruiting film: your game shot on a broadcast video setup, your number marked before each clip, and a title card with your name, position, class year and contact. It's $100 a game. The full game tape is yours within 3 days, and for $50 more Michael cuts it down to your highlights within 7 days.

No music on it by default, since coaches often watch with the sound off. It comes as one private link, easy to send.

What college coaches want to see

You're the main character tonight

Game photos usually follow the ball. A spotlight follows you: the bench, the big play, and the second right after it when you lose it with your teammates.

The walk

Senior night. Flowers, your parents on either side, your name over the speakers. Big Night starts before the game, so the walk is in it.

The celly

The goal, the pick six, the and-one. Then whatever you do next with your teammates. That's the frame everybody screenshots.

The dap-up

The handshake line, the hug at the fence, the photo with your little brother in your jersey. Big Night stays for postgame.

The post

Your own private gallery within 48 hours, full size and no watermark. Pick the one that goes on your feed.

Send this page to whoever's driving you to the game.

Styled shoots: portraits in uniform

Not a game. A planned portrait session with your athlete in uniform, on the field or anywhere that fits them, set up ahead of time instead of caught mid play. Think senior portrait, the banner on the fence, a recruiting profile, or the one that ends up framed in the hallway.

Every styled shoot is quoted, because the where, the when and the look change from kid to kid. Tell Michael what you're picturing and he'll come back with a price. Asking is free.

How a spotlight works

You book it online. Michael takes it from there.

  1. 1

    Book it online

Pick a package and add your athlete's name, jersey number, team and the game, plus anything Michael should know. You pay online with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card.

  2. 2

    Michael texts to confirm

Within a day, he texts you to confirm the game, the time and where to find him. If the game moves, your booking moves with it.

  3. 3

    Game day

Michael is on the sideline with your athlete as the focus. For Big Night, he's there from pregame through postgame. You watch the game.

  4. 4

    Their private gallery

Within 48 hours of the final whistle, the edited photos are in your athlete's own private gallery. The link comes by text and email.

Your only job is to watch the game

No phone held up through the fourth quarter, no zooming in from the top row. Sit with the other parents and yell as loud as you want. Rival is Michael Rotiroti, a cinematographer and photographer based in Peabody, and you deal with him directly from the booking to the gallery. Before Rival, his camera was on HBO, NESN and NBC Sports Boston.

  • EmmyDirector of photography on HBO's Murder in Boston, Outstanding Crime and Justice Documentary, 2024
  • duPontduPont-Columbia Award, Murder in Boston
  • NBC SportsDirector of photography, Cardillo's World on NBC Sports Boston, including the John DiBiaso episode
  • CreditsCamera and edit credits with ESPN, the NCAA, NESN and the Boston Red Sox
  • EndicottBFA in Photography, Endicott College, 2020

The one thing only you can do is tell him what matters, in the notes box when you book. The senior night ceremony is before warmups. The grandparents are driving up. She switched numbers this year.

Not sure which one?

Here's how they differ, in plain words.

What's the difference between Game Spotlight and Big Night?

Game Spotlight is the game. Michael follows your athlete from start to finish, and you get 20 to 30 edited photos.

Big Night adds everything around the game: pregame and warmups, the whole game, then postgame with family and teammates. You get 40 to 60 edited photos. If the moments you care about happen before the game or after it, book Big Night.

Which one should we book for senior night?

Big Night. So much of senior night happens off the scoreboard: the walk with flowers, the photo with parents, the hugs at the fence after. Game Spotlight covers the game itself, not the parts around it.

Want the night on video too? Everything for the night, photos and video, is on the senior night page.

What if we want video too?

Spotlights are photos. For one athlete, video is Social Reel for $35, Mic'd Up for $50, Pregame + Postgame + Highlights for $150 and College Highlight Tape for $100 a game, cut to highlights for $50 more.

Want photos and video from the same game? List both in the notes box when you book, and Michael will put it together. See the sports video packages

Rival is already shooting our game. Do we still need a spotlight?

Not always. At a regular season game Rival shoots, every family gets the post game gallery: $2.99 a photo during the game, $5 after, up for 48 hours. You find your kid by typing their jersey number.

A spotlight is different. Your athlete is the focus the whole time, and their edited photos go into their own private gallery.

Where do styled shoots fit?

Styled shoots aren't game coverage. They're planned portraits of your athlete in uniform, quoted shoot by shoot, and asking for a quote is free. See styled shoots

Spotlight questions

The logistics parents ask about. Anything else, ask Michael.

What if the game gets rained out or moved?

Your booking moves with the game. Reply to Michael's confirmation text or tell him through the contact page as soon as you hear the new date.

If Michael can't make the new date, you get a full refund.

What if our plans change?

Tell Michael more than 48 hours before the game and you get a full refund. Inside 48 hours there's no refund, but the spotlight can move to another game this season.

If Michael can't make your game, you get a full refund.

Can two siblings share a spotlight?

Each spotlight is about one athlete, so it's one booking per athlete. If your kids play in the same game, book one for each and Michael covers both of them that night.

Can you shoot an away game?

Yes. A spotlight follows your athlete home, away and at tournaments. Put the field and town in the booking and Michael confirms it by text within a day.

How far will you travel?

Games on the North Shore and around Greater Boston are included. A game more than 45 minutes from Peabody may add a travel fee, and Michael quotes it before you pay. Anywhere else in New England is by request.

What if my kid doesn't play much?

Then Big Night is the safer pick. Warmups, pregame, and postgame with family and teammates don't depend on minutes. Tell Michael in the notes box, so he knows going in.

Hurt or sitting out? Move the spotlight. More than 48 hours before the game it's a full refund, and inside 48 hours it can move to another game this season.

Will Rival post my kid's photos online?

Your athlete's spotlight gallery is private. It's unlisted, kept out of Google, and the link goes to you.

If your athlete is 12 or under, nothing of them goes on Rival's social media, in an ad or on the website without a written OK from a parent, the team or the coach. Read the photo policy
