Answers from Rival Imaging for North Shore and Greater Boston families: photos by jersey number from $2.99, booking, refunds, video and privacy.
Finding your photos
How do I find my kid's photos?
Scan the Rival sign at the field with your phone's camera. Pick the game, type your kid's jersey number, and only their photos show up.
On game day you can also open Find my photos and choose your game there.
When do the photos go up?
While the game is still going. The gallery goes live during the game and keeps filling up, so you can check at halftime or wait for the final whistle. Just watch the game. The photos will be there.
Do I need an app or an account?
No. The sign opens the gallery right on your phone. There's nothing to download and nothing to sign up for.
Do I have to buy anything to look?
No. Scroll the previews as long as you like and pay only for the photos you want.
My kid's number isn't bringing anything up. Now what?
Photos go up all through the game, so give it a few minutes and check again. If they still don't show, send us the game and the number through the contact form and Michael will write back within a day.
Buying and downloading
How much does a photo cost?
$2.99 a photo while the game is going. After the final whistle, photos are $5 each until the gallery comes down. Every package and price is on the prices page.
How do I pay?
Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card, with no account and no app. Every payment goes through Stripe, so Rival never sees or stores your card number.
What do I get when I buy a photo?
The full size photo with no watermark, saved straight to your phone.
I lost a photo I bought. Can I get it back?
Yes. Write to us through the contact form, pick "A photo I bought," and include the game and the email you paid with. Michael keeps the original files through the season, so he can send it again.
Something is wrong with a photo I bought. What do I do?
Tell us through the contact form. Pick "A photo I bought," include the game and the email you paid with, and Michael will write back within a day.
Post game galleries and prints
What is a post game gallery?
It's the gallery from your kid's game, open to every family there. It goes live while the game is still going, and you search it by jersey number.
Which games get a gallery?
Every regular season game Rival shoots. If Rival isn't on the schedule for a game you care about, you can prebook us.
Do the galleries cover both teams?
Yes. Every post game gallery covers both teams, so families on the visiting side find their kids by jersey number the same way.
How long does the gallery stay up?
48 hours after the final whistle, then it comes down. Save the photos you buy to your phone right away.
Are the photos watermarked?
Only the previews. The gallery shows small, watermarked versions, and every photo you buy is full size with no watermark.
Is there a free photo?
Yes. Every athlete gets one free photo per game, claimed right in the game's gallery. Pick your favorite, tap Get this one free, add your jersey number and your Instagram or TikTok, and promise to tag @rivalimaging in your post and in the caption. Once Michael approves it, the full-size download unlocks for that photo.
What do I agree to when I claim a free photo?
That you'll tag @rivalimaging in your post and in the caption, and that Rival Imaging can post that photo on Instagram and our other social accounts, on our website, and in ads and marketing materials. Athletes 12 and under need a parent or guardian to claim it for them.
Read the full free photo terms in our photo policy.
Can I get prints?
Yes. Prints are available right at the game, so you can take your favorite shot home before you leave.
Athlete spotlights
What is an athlete spotlight?
It's hiring Rival for your kid, a deep dive on one athlete instead of the whole team. Pick Game Spotlight for $50 or Big Night for $150, or ask about a styled portrait shoot. All of them are on the athlete spotlights page.
What do I get with Game Spotlight?
For $50, your athlete is the focus for one game. You get 20 to 30 edited photos in their own private gallery.
What's in Big Night?
For $150, Rival covers pregame, the whole game, and postgame with family and teammates. You get 40 to 60 edited photos. It's made for senior nights, first games and Friday night lights. See Big Night senior night photos.
When do spotlight photos arrive?
Within 48 hours of the final whistle. The edited photos land in your athlete's private gallery, full size with no watermark.
Can you cover two of my kids at the same game?
Yes. It's one booking per athlete, and Michael covers both at the same game.
What is a styled shoot?
Planned portraits of your athlete in uniform, on the field or anywhere that fits them. It's free to ask: tell Michael what you're picturing and he'll send a quote.
Video
What video packages do you offer?
For athletes: Social Reel for $35, Mic'd Up for $50, Pregame + Postgame + Highlights for $150, and College Highlight Tape for $100 a game (the full game tape, cut down to highlights for $50 more). For teams and schools: Full Game Broadcast Coverage from $750 a game with two cameras (up to three for $550 more), and Social Media Recap Edits for $350 a game or $2,400 for an 8-game season.
All six are on the sports video page.
When does the video arrive?
A Social Reel or a Social Media Recap Edit arrives within 2 days. Mic'd Up and Pregame + Postgame + Highlights arrive within 7 days. A College Highlight Tape comes as the full game file within 3 days, and the highlights cut within 7. Full Game Broadcast Coverage arrives as the game file within 3 days.
Every video comes as a private download link, with the vertical versions ready to post.
What music is in the videos? Can we pick the song?
Reels and highlight cuts use licensed music cleared for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, so nothing gets muted. Want a popular song? Ask for a no-music version and add the sound in the app.
College Highlight Tapes have no music by default, because coaches often watch with the sound off.
How does Mic'd Up work if my kid is under 18?
A parent or guardian says OK when booking, with a checkbox, and Michael gets the coach's and the league's OK before game day. A small wireless mic clips inside the collar or the shoulder pads and goes on before warmups. It works for most sports with a jersey, but not in the pool.
If the coach or the league says no, switch to a Social Reel and get the $15 back, or take a full refund.
For athletes 12 and under, nothing goes on Rival's social media, in an ad or on the website without a written OK from a parent, the team or the coach. Read the photo policy.
What if they say something they shouldn't on the mic?
Mic'd Up is an edited video, not a raw recording. Michael cuts swearing, private talk with coaches and refs, and anything about other players. The family sees the finished video before Rival posts any of it.
Can you livestream the game?
Yes, on request with Full Game Broadcast Coverage, to YouTube or the school's own channel. The livestream is quoted for your game, and the venue needs power and a decent signal.
Livestreams are for regular season and youth games. MIAA tournament streams belong to the NFHS Network.
Booking, refunds and rainouts
Can I book online?
Yes. Game Spotlight, Big Night, Social Reel, Mic'd Up, Pregame + Postgame + Highlights, College Highlight Tape and Social Media Recap Edit book right on the site, and you pay online through Stripe with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card.
Full Game Broadcast Coverage, livestreams, styled shoots, team photo days and league seasons are quoted. Sending the request is free, and Michael sends you a price.
How do I book?
Tap a Book button, like Book Big Night for $150 on the athlete spotlights page. Pick the game, add your athlete and your name, email and phone, and send it. Michael texts to confirm every booking within a day, and you pay online with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card.
Every package is on the prices page.
What's your refund policy?
If Michael can't make your game, you get a full refund. If your plans change more than 48 hours before the game, you get a full refund too. Inside 48 hours there's no refund, but the booking can move to another game this season.
What if the game is rained out or moved?
Your booking moves with the game, so let Michael know as soon as you hear. If he can't make the new date, you get a full refund.
Prebooking Rival for a game
What does prebooking mean?
If Rival isn't on the schedule for a game you care about, you can ask us to come shoot it. It's good for big games, rivalry nights and anything we haven't scheduled yet. The game gets a post game gallery like any other, open to every family there.
How far ahead can I prebook?
You can prebook a game up to 7 days in advance.
How do I prebook a game?
Send the date, time and field through the contact form. Michael will confirm with you before the game that Rival can be there.
Does it cost anything to prebook?
It's free to request. Families at the game buy photos the usual way, $2.99 each during the game and $5 after.
Where Rival shoots
Where do you shoot?
Rival Imaging is based in Peabody and works the North Shore and Greater Boston, Massachusetts. Travel anywhere in that area is included.
Do you travel to games elsewhere in New England?
Yes, by request. Games more than 45 minutes from Peabody may add a travel fee, and you'll see it before you pay.
Do you shoot youth, high school or college games?
All three. Rival shoots youth leagues, high school games and college sports on the North Shore and around Greater Boston.
Do you cover tournaments?
Yes, athlete spotlights work at tournaments. A full tournament gallery for every family there is by request from the tournament organizer, through the contact form.
Privacy and removal
Can I have a photo of my kid taken down?
Yes. Every photo has a Remove button. Tap it, or ask us through the removal form.
Who can see the galleries?
Galleries are unlisted and kept out of search engines. Families get to them from the Rival sign at the field.
Do you use face recognition?
No. You find your kid by jersey number, never by face.
Will my kid's photo end up on social media or in an ad?
If your athlete is 12 or under, not without a written OK from a parent, the team or the coach. The one exception is a free photo: claiming one means you agree we can post that photo.
Everything is on the photo policy page, including the free photo terms.
Leagues and teams
How do I get Rival at my kid's games?
Ask your league or coach to book Rival, or send us the league's name through the contact form and we'll reach out.
What does it cost the league?
Nothing. Rival covers games at no cost to the league, and the league gets a share of photo sales or free team photos. More on the leagues page.
Does Rival need to be the league's only photographer?
Yes, when the league takes a share of sales or free team photos. In return, Rival is the league's exclusive game photographer and videographer for the season. Parents can always shoot their own kids. More on the leagues page.
Do you do team photo days?
Yes. Rival does team and individual photo days, quoted for your league or team. See team photos and portraits, or ask through the contact form.
What is Coach of the Month?
Every month Rival features one coach from the North Shore or around Greater Boston, any sport and any level, picked from the stories people send in. The coach gets a feature on our Instagram and a spot on the site, and the team gets a graphic to share. Nominate a coach.
Who runs Rival?
Michael Rotiroti, a National Emmy and duPont-Columbia award-winning cinematographer and photographer based in Peabody. His work has run on HBO, MTV, NESN and NBC Sports Boston. Meet Michael.
