Photo policy

How Rival Imaging takes, shows, sells and stores photos of your kids. Written so a parent can read it in two minutes and a league board can sign off on it.

The short version

Who we photograph

We only photograph games for leagues and teams that said yes.

Who sees the galleries

Galleries are unlisted and hidden from Google, and previews are small and watermarked.

Taking a photo down

Any parent can take a photo down with the Remove button.

Athletes 12 and under

No photo of an athlete 12 or under goes on social media, in ads or on our website without a written OK from a parent, the team or the coach.

Free photos

Free photos are the exception: claiming one means you agree to the free photo terms, so we can post that photo.

Faces and payments

No face recognition, and Stripe handles payments, so we never see your card number.

The full policy

Who we photograph

We only photograph games for leagues and teams that have said yes. If your league hasn't agreed to have us there, we aren't shooting.

Who can see the galleries

Galleries go up live during the game or the same evening. They are kept low profile on purpose.

  • Galleries are unlisted. We don't link to them publicly.
  • Every gallery page is marked noindex, so Google doesn't list it.
  • Previews are small and watermarked.
  • Full-size files only go to the family that buys them.
  • Post game galleries stay up for 48 hours after the game, then come down.
Removing a photo

Any parent or guardian can take a photo down. Tap the Remove button on the photo, or send us a removal request. It comes down as soon as we see it, usually the same day.

Where photos show up, and when

We never post a photo of an athlete 12 or under to social media, in ads, or on our website without a written OK from a parent, the team or the coach.

The one exception is a free photo. Claiming one means you agree to the free photo terms below, which let us post that photo.

We don't use face recognition. You find your player by jersey number.

Payments and your information
  • Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store card numbers.
  • We keep the name, email and phone number from every order, free photo claim and booking, so we can deliver photos, confirm bookings and resend links if you lose them.
  • We only send game day texts and emails to people who check the box asking for them. You can stop anytime.
  • We don't sell or share your information with anyone.
Keeping original files

We keep the original files for our records through the season, then delete them unless a family asks us to keep theirs.

Free photo terms

Every athlete gets 1 free photo per game. Before the download unlocks, you check a box saying you agree to these terms.

  1. You tag us. When you post your free photo, tag @rivalimaging in the post and in the caption.
  2. We can post it too. Rival Imaging can use that photo on Instagram and our other social accounts, on rivalimaging.com, and in our ads and marketing materials, online or in print. We may tag you or your team when we do.
  3. Athletes 12 and under. A parent or guardian has to claim the free photo and check the box. Their OK covers that photo.
  4. Athletes under 18. By checking the box, you're telling us a parent or guardian is OK with these terms.
  5. The photo stays ours. You can post it and share it for yourself. Please don't sell it.
  6. Changed your mind? Write to us and we'll stop using it in anything new.
  7. One per athlete, per game. Michael approves each claim, then the full-size download unlocks for that one photo.

League boards, coaches and parents are welcome to ask us anything about this policy.
